It’s time to de-clutter, create more space and get organised for the spring.
February 2012You can simply change the look of your home in few hours or couple of days; smallest updates can make huge differences. Give your home a boost and try some of the following suggestions to update and refresh your home without spending a fortune.
- Thinking of update your kitchen; invest in new appliances for a co-ordinated look; try vibrant red and industrial metallic to add a splash colour and chic.
- Co-ordinate the colours.; items such as carpet, sofa, and flooring may not be changeable, so work on matching everything else in the room to provide a fresh look. This can be easily achieved with the use of paint, there are loads of colours and textures available these days; it’s cheap and very effective way of changing the look of any room.
- Create a focal point; try making your own wall art using attractive, textured, colourful wallpaper pasted on canvas or fabric stapled to the canvas. Then lean it in an alcove or mount it on the wall.
- Replace your existing wardrobe doors with full-length glass or mirror doors; this will instantly make the room brighter and spacious. Alternatively, if budget is ‘tight’ paint them in a vibrant colour for a funky look.
- Repositioning a large mirror can make a living room look bigger and brighter. Put mirror opposite a window to bounce light into a dark area, or hang over a fireplace to make the room seem more spacious.
- A quick and cheap way of utilising your under-stairs storage is to build a storage bench seat with wicker baskets for shoes and boots, along with shelving for your outdoor clothing.
- Add a colourful plain runner to a large hall, which is eye-catching. Use stair rods to get a fabulous luxury finish. Alternatively, use stairs clips, which are a cheaper option, but with an amazing feature.
- Introduce fresh flowers, which add colour and fragrance to the room.
- Invest in a new oversized headboard. If budget tight, use some fabric and staple it to the existing headboard to provide a new and personal looks.
