Ideas and guidelines on how to decorating your Christmas table
December 2011Even before you start decorating the Christmas table, plan to give the right look to the room in which the table is placed.
- Decide on a theme or colour to give the room a festive look.
- You may add a new painting to the room which gives the feel of the festival.
- A nice idea would be to decorate the room with bright and vibrant flowers. This will make the room appear fresh, lively and more inviting.
- You may place side tables with festive decorations.
- Consider decorating chairs as well. For instance you may use ribbons, net bows around the chair.
- Use an arrangement of candles, flowers and pine garland to create a dramatic table centrepiece. For example, Place candles into a traditional Christmas wreath. Use candle holders and make sure they’re well secured.
- Display one beautiful Christmas figurine on your table. This could be the focus of your Christmas table.
- Pick up cones on your winter walks, bring them inside and wait for them to open up. Then, spray them roughly, leaving some of the natural colour showing through, and pop a name card in place.
- Prepare little boxes, containing a token gift (or ‘party favour’) for each guest, which have been wrapped in gorgorus textured scented paper and popped into a bowl at each place setting. A little sprig of holly gives it an unmistakeable Christmas touch..
Decorating your dinner table at Christmas time can be as simple or as complicated as you like - and it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune…
Happy Christmas & New Year.
